OB//028 _ I wrote a book _

Welcome back,

A break from the script with only one thing today.

Let's go.

_iain.

Something I wrote_

In December, I hand-wrote a book.

On Business.

It starts with a footnote.

This footnote.

"A few words before we start.

This book is the curation of my personal learnings, and so it's purposely subjective and incomplete.

This is not The Business Book, this is my business book containing my perspectives and opinions On Business.

It contains what I think makes a business actually work.

It's for makers, creators and craftsmen who are trying to make a business work, and it serves as a reflection of what I've learned about the craft from my years working on businesses (both my own and other people's).

I have tried not to draw from the bottomless well of business books, established "best-practices", MBA "insights" and theoretical ideals, but rather approach this from the hard truth of trying to make a living in the real world.

Researching this has been the best part of my work.

Learning through doing the work with people who are actually building a business, not just talking about it.

I hope you find it useful."

v0.0 written.

It exists.

Handwritten.

Unedited.

And rough.

(The process of actually writing the book has helped me learn important lessons before it was too late.)

v1.0 is coming asap.

It will be digital-first.

And it is currently free.

But, limited in number.

(It will teach me even more lessons and help make the book even more valuable (hopefully).)

You can reserve a copy by replying to this email (say something like "I'd like a copy".)

v2.0 will follow.

The actual book.

More on that later, though.

Every week, I share what actually works in building a business that works. The strategy. The systems. The decisions that make the real difference. No guru theatrics. No empty promises. No shortcuts. Just the unglamorous work of building something that actually works.
